Frontier was contracted by Owner to demolish multiple production facilities of various sizes (up to 1,200 ton-per-day pulp and paper facilities). Work included asbestos abatement and removal of process equipment, structures, towers, boilers and buildings of various size and construction materials.

Frontier was contracted by Owner for select demolition and dismantling of structures, vessels, piping and equipment in and around live and sensitive operations. Work was completed safely and without disruption to normal plant activities

400MW Generating Station

Frontier was contracted to demolish a three unit 400MW Generating Station to grade.  Work involved the removal of asbestos materials, power-generating equipment including boiler/steam turbine units, tanks, piping, various structures and concrete.

Additionally, two Westinghouse 501AA Combustion Turbine units were dismantled for redeployment to an oversea power project.

Frontier was contracted to demolish 230’ grain silos and mill structures at a flourmill in downtown Milwaukee. Silo demolition was surgically completed within five feet of city streets and energized power lines. Demolition equipment included a crane w/ 260’ boom and excavators (including hi-reach) with specialty demolition attachments. A Dust Mitigation Plan was prepared to identify potential emission sources and provide guidance to field personnel on measures to control the generation of dust. Over 80,000 tons of concrete was cleaned of rebar, recycled and used onsite for grading and future reuse.

Frontier was contracted by Owner to dismantle the “old” Unit #1 Boiler and Stack at a live generating facility. Work included asbestos abatement, removal of 250’ concrete stack, construction of protective structures over live high-energy 2200-PSI steam lines and complete dismantlement of a hung 1.35 million-pound/per-hour supercritical boiler, boiler structure and associated turbine bay piping. Site restoration included grading and an asphalt topcoat. Work was completed without disruption to normal plant activities.

Trestle Bridge Dismantling

A 1,200’ trestle railroad bridge spans a valley and main interstate. The bridge was removed in a safe and timely manner with minimal disturbance to the surrounding area/terrain. Areas impacted by heavy equipment were restored according to Frontier’s site-specific Environmental Impact Assessment & Site Restoration Plan.

Frontier worked in and around an active rail yard dismantling a railroad bridge that spanned 6 sets of active track. Work was carefully coordinated to start and stop with the passing of freight/passenger trains. The project was completed without disruption to live railroad activities.
